1. Who this policy is for
Chatsifieds is a general-audience educational website that may be used by adults, international students, younger learners, parents, guardians, teachers and community groups. For this policy, a child or young person means a person under 18.
2. Guidance for younger users
Younger users should involve a parent, guardian, teacher or responsible adult where appropriate, particularly before contacting a business, following an external link, redeeming an offer, making a purchase or sharing personal information.
3. Privacy by default in the learning layer
- public lessons do not require a Chatsifieds learner account;
- My Learning progress and saved phrases are stored on the device/browser;
- typed Practice Lab answers are not stored in the learning-progress record;
- the current printable-certificate name field renders the certificate in the browser and does not send the name to Chatsifieds through that certificate feature; and
- first-party learning signals do not include the raw Search English wording or a persistent Chatsifieds learner advertising ID.
4. Do not share children's private information
Do not submit a child's home address, phone number, school record, identity document, precise location, medical information or other sensitive/private information through general enquiries or public content. If a child sends personal information to us unexpectedly, a parent/guardian may contact us to request review or deletion, subject to applicable law and legitimate retention requirements.
5. Business partners and sponsored content
Sponsored content must be clearly labelled and suitable for the learning audience. Business partners must not use Chatsifieds to seek secret or inappropriate private contact with children or to harvest learner details.
Chatsifieds may refuse youth-facing sponsorships for age-restricted or learner-unsuitable products and services, including alcohol, nicotine/vaping, gambling, adult sexual services/content, illegal drugs, weapons and other categories we reasonably consider unsafe or exploitative for learners.
6. Offers for students
A “student offer” must be genuine, current and easy to understand. Important conditions such as eligibility, expiry, location, minimum spend, exclusions, booking requirements and availability should be prominent. A partner must not pressure a student to provide unnecessary personal information in order to understand or redeem an offer.
7. User submissions and moderation
Any phrase, example, image, link or other content submitted for publication must be suitable for a general learning audience. We may reject, remove, edit or restrict content that creates safety, exploitation, privacy, harassment, illegal-content or learner-trust concerns.
8. Advertising and profiling
Chatsifieds does not intentionally use My Learning progress, saved phrases or the first-party aggregate learning-signals system to build an individual child's advertising profile. Some pages may load third-party advertising technology, which has its own controls and privacy practices. Parents and guardians can use browser and advertising-provider controls to limit third-party cookies and advertising identifiers.
9. Children's Online Privacy Code
Australian children's online privacy requirements are evolving. At the date of this policy, the OAIC's Children's Online Privacy Code is still being finalised and is due to be registered by 10 December 2026. Chatsifieds will review the final Code and make any changes required if the Code applies to the service.
10. Reporting a safety concern
Report a Chatsifieds learner-safety or child-privacy concern to [email protected]. Include the page URL and enough information to identify the issue, but avoid sending additional sensitive information unless needed.
