1. Scope
These Terms apply to use of Chatsifieds.com, including public learning pages, quizzes, printable certificates, Search English, My Learning, Practice Lab, Phrase Wall, business information, sponsored placements and enquiry features.
2. Using the public website
You may use public Chatsifieds learning content for lawful personal learning and ordinary educational use subject to these Terms and the Content & Copyright Policy. If you do not agree with these rules, do not misuse or submit content through the service.
3. Learners under 18
Chatsifieds is a general-audience educational service. Users under 18 should involve a parent, guardian, teacher or responsible adult where appropriate, particularly before contacting a business, following an offer or making a purchase. See the Child Safety & Student Use Policy.
4. Educational purpose and certificates
Chatsifieds provides practical English and cultural learning information. It is not an accredited English-testing body, migration service, university, school, government authority or professional adviser unless a page expressly states otherwise.
Current Chatsifieds certificates are participation/completion-style learning certificates only. They are not accredited qualifications, official test results or government-recognised credentials. The current certificate feature uses the name typed by the learner in the browser to render the printable certificate; that feature does not transmit the entered name to Chatsifieds.
5. My Learning and Practice Lab
The current My Learning system stores progress on the learner's device/browser and does not create a required Chatsifieds account. Clearing browser site data can remove that progress. Chatsifieds does not promise that local progress will survive browser resets, device loss or storage clearing.
6. Phrase Wall and sponsored content
Phrase Wall teaches practical phrases, context and possible replies. A phrase page may also include clearly labelled sponsored or partner material. Sponsored placement does not mean that Chatsifieds guarantees the partner's product, service or offer.
“Own a Phrase” is a sponsorship name only. It does not transfer legal ownership, copyright or trade mark rights in ordinary words or expressions. Any exclusivity must be expressly agreed for a defined Chatsifieds placement and period.
7. Business enquiries and contract formation
Submitting a business enquiry, selecting a plan on the website or generating an enquiry email does not itself create a paid contract and does not start automatic recurring billing. A paid arrangement begins only after Chatsifieds and the business confirm the commercial terms in writing and any required acceptance/payment step occurs.
Public website plan figures are invitations to enquire. Before acceptance, Chatsifieds will confirm the scope, duration, total amount payable and applicable GST treatment in writing.
8. Business partner responsibilities
A partner must have authority to act for the business and must ensure supplied logos, links, claims, prices, offers, qualifications, discount terms and availability information are accurate, current, lawful and able to be substantiated. The partner must promptly tell us when a material offer or claim changes.
9. Fair changes to paid arrangements
We may change public pages, free features and indicative prices for future arrangements. A material change to an already-confirmed paid service during its committed period will be handled according to the written agreement, applicable law and the Refunds & Consumer Guarantees Policy. We will not treat a general website-change clause as permission to remove non-excludable rights.
10. User and partner submissions
If you voluntarily submit a phrase, image, logo, feedback, business description or other content for use by Chatsifieds, you confirm you have the necessary rights and that the content is lawful and appropriate for the stated purpose. Do not submit confidential information or another person's personal information without authority.
You grant Chatsifieds a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, reproduce, format, edit for presentation/moderation, display and promote the submitted content to the extent reasonably needed to operate and promote the relevant Chatsifieds feature or agreed partner placement. This licence does not transfer ownership of the underlying content.
11. Third-party services and offers
Chatsifieds may link to or display third-party websites, businesses, advertising, maps, social platforms or other services. Unless Chatsifieds clearly says it is the supplier, the third party is responsible for its own goods, services, prices, privacy practices and offer conditions.
12. Australian Consumer Law
Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, remedy or other right that cannot legally be excluded. Where Chatsifieds supplies a paid service and the Australian Consumer Law applies, applicable consumer guarantees operate regardless of wording in these Terms.
13. Intellectual property and lawful exceptions
Unless otherwise stated, Chatsifieds owns or licenses the website design, branding, original lesson text, quiz content, graphics and other protected material. You may share links and use public materials for personal learning. Restrictions on copying do not limit fair dealing or other rights permitted by law. See the Content & Copyright Policy.
14. Prohibited conduct
Do not interfere with security, submit malware, abuse forms, harvest learner data, impersonate others, post unlawful or harmful content, make misleading sponsor claims, or carry out bulk automated extraction contrary to the Acceptable Use Policy.
15. Availability
We may maintain, update, suspend or retire free website features. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access, preservation of browser-local progress or availability of a third-party linked service.
16. Liability
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability or rights that cannot lawfully be excluded. To the extent permitted by law, Chatsifieds is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss arising solely from free educational information, loss of browser-local progress, or a third-party product/service that Chatsifieds does not supply. Any limitation applying to a paid Chatsifieds service must also be read subject to mandatory consumer guarantees and the confirmed written agreement.
17. Suspension and removal
We may block abusive access or remove content/sponsorship material where reasonably necessary for security, safety, legality, learner protection or a material breach. Where a paid service is affected, commercial consequences will be handled fairly under the agreement and applicable law.
18. Complaints and disputes
Please contact [email protected] first so we can try to resolve the issue. Nothing in these Terms prevents a person from using a regulator, tribunal, court or other dispute process available under applicable law.
19. Changes to these Terms
We may update these public Terms for future use of the website. The updated date shows the current version. A policy update does not retrospectively remove rights or materially rewrite a confirmed paid service where doing so would be unlawful or inconsistent with the agreed contract.
20. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, subject to any mandatory law that applies elsewhere. Courts and tribunals with lawful jurisdiction remain available. Contact [email protected].
